Tanjung Tebal
Tanjung means cape and tebal means thick, after the wide part of the cape seen from above. Huge boulders create canyons and shelves that stretch far into the strait. The strong currents usually found here require planning for slack tide, but they bring jacks, rainbow runners, trevally and mackerel, sea fans in many colours and current-loving nudibranchs such as Nembrotha purpureolineolata. Lembeh Resort also lists purple and red pygmy seahorses, sea moths and devilfish.
