Hairball
Also known as: Hairball 1 · Hairball One
Hairball sits on a point, and Lembeh Resort explains its unusual richness with the currents meeting there and carrying in food. At first sight the site is a plain slope of black sand with rubble patches and a few sunken logs, yet guides count it among the most dived muck sites of the strait. Frogfish are the signature find, from hairy and Lembeh hairy frogfish to giant ones, and seahorses, ghost pipefish, carrier crabs, octopus and snake eels are regular. At night stargazers, cuttlefish, decorator crabs and Spanish dancers come out. The name is said to come from a diver who lost a hair band on the dive and from algae that look like a cat's hairball.
