Golden Passage
Golden Passage is the strait that separates Gili Lawa Darat from Komodo Island, and its currents are among the strongest in the park. Divers ride the flow through a changing landscape of golden coral reef, sandy slopes where white-tip reef sharks rest, and large coral formations. Dense schools of fusiliers and trevally move with the current and draw reef sharks to the edges. Mantas, devil rays and eagle rays use the passage to travel to the north of Komodo, and dolphins are sometimes seen. Because conditions can change quickly, operators take only divers with advanced certification and drift experience.
