Buddha Rock

Also known as: Hin Taa Toh · Buddha Point

Buddha Rock is named after a big rock in Chalok Bay whose outline is often compared to a Buddha sitting in meditation, and it is also known as Hin Taa Toh or Buddha Point. The dive site lies at the deeper outer edge of the bay, a short boat ride from shore, with several mooring buoys. A local dive school gives an average depth of 10 to 14 metres and describes healthy coral and plenty of marine life. Because it rarely appears on standard dive maps and gets little boat traffic, the marine life is often undisturbed; stingrays, cuttlefish, octopus, turtles and nudibranchs are among the animals reported. The New Heaven Reef Conservation Program has placed artificial reef structures around the rock and in Chalok Bay and runs regular reef monitoring surveys here.
