MV Trident

Also known as: Trident Wreck · Trident

The MV Trident is a former steel-hulled German coastguard vessel that later served as a technical diving boat and was sunk deliberately in September 2010 just south of Shark Island as an artificial reef and training wreck. Its specialty is a deep wreck in current: it lies on its starboard side at about 30 to 36 m, and the strong current in the area brought marine life onto the hull very quickly. The wreck can be fully penetrated and is often used for entry-level technical training. Because of the depth and the current, it is meant for experienced divers with deep and nitrox training rather than for newly certified divers.
