Spar

Also known as: USCG Spar

The 180 ft cutter served from 1944 to 1997 and was the first US vessel to circumnavigate the North American continent through the Northwest Passage. It now sits intact with a pronounced tilt and many openings, which makes it a favourite for penetration and wreck training. Divers without penetration plans usually explore the wheelhouse and main deck. Sand tiger sharks patrol along the crane, a resident school of spadefish and swirling baitfish surround the wreck, and shark teeth are often found on it.
