Kicker Rock
Also known as: León Dormido · Sleeping Lion · Kickers Rock
Kicker Rock, or Leon Dormido, is the remnant of a tuff cone whose shape resembles a sleeping lion, about 45 minutes to an hour by boat from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Waves have split it in two, and divers explore the outer walls and swim through the narrow channel between the cliffs. Outside the channel the bottom drops steeply to deep water. Hammerheads, often in schools, Galapagos sharks, eagle and mobula rays, turtles, sea lions and schools of salema are the main sights. The deep water and current make it a dive for confident divers, while snorkellers can visit from the same boat.
