Pickles Reef
Also known as: Pickle Barrel Reef
The reef takes its name from barrels of cement that set solid after the vessel carrying them sank; the barrel-shaped concrete cylinders are now covered in coral, including large pillar corals. Ledges and crevices hide juvenile fish, lobsters and small creatures such as nudibranchs, flamingo tongues and banded coral shrimp. Sea fans dot the reef, and stingrays and young nurse sharks rest in the sand channels. It lies close to Molasses Reef and the deep wrecks Duane and Bibb.
