Snake Reef

Also known as: Rempart Serpent

The reef lies opposite the coastal cliffs of the Medine sugar estate and is the northernmost of the Flic en Flac dive sites. It consists of boulders no higher than about 2 m spread along a sandbank, and its elongated shape gave it the name. Local guides call it one of the richest places for marine life in the area. Lionfish, scorpionfish, stonefish, leaf fish, nudibranchs and many moray eels are regular finds, together with stingrays and the occasional octopus. The depth stays around 25 m, so it is usually dived as an advanced dive, ideally on Nitrox.
