Japanese Gardens

Also known as: Japanese Garden

The site takes up the southern part of the reserve up to the Underwater Observatory, about 500 m according to Ahla and nearly a kilometre according to Shulamit, and holds some of the most protected deep coral in Eilat. The shallow route winds through small canyons in the reef at no more than about 8 to 15 m, while the deep route follows a coral wall separated from the shallows by a strip of sand. Visibility is usually very good and few divers are in the water, since access is by boat and Ahla reports a daily limit on the number of divers. Barracuda and other open water fish are sometimes seen along the wall.
