Secret Garden
Also known as: Secret Spot · Sacred Garden
A barely marked dirt track leads through palm trees to the beach, where a lone mangrove tree stands in the water. After a long, shallow entry best done at higher tide, the reef drops off as a slope and short walls covered in hard and soft corals down to about 40 m. Divernet singles out a small sponge garden with colonies of purple anthias and glassfish. Orangutan crabs, many nudibranchs and passing whitetip reef sharks are regular, and dugongs are occasionally seen in the shallows. The site is well protected from waves and current and is also good for snorkelling over gardens at 3 to 5 m.
