Black Rock

Also known as: Galole Hato Metac

A horseshoe-shaped wall on the eastern face of the rock drops into deep blue water, with massive sea fans and sponges and plenty of reef fish. Divers usually enter on the eastern side and circle the rock anticlockwise towards its shallower western slopes, where large bommies sit at 10 to 12 m. Wikivoyage points out a deep recess at 6 to 10 m near the entry and flashlight fish in the darker recesses of the horseshoe. Bumphead parrotfish, Spanish dancers, whitetip reef sharks and even thresher sharks have been seen. Up to three currents can act on the site at once, so it is only dived around slack tide and never when the water looks to be boiling.
