Roda Reef
Dive Timor Lorosae created the reef by placing old tyres and concrete on a sandy bottom and lists it among its local sites near Dili. The tyres now shelter shrimps, crabs and lobsters, along with juvenile snappers, bannerfish, sweetlips and frogfish. On the surrounding sand divers search for nudibranchs, pygmy pipehorses, seahorses and eels. Mimic octopus and seamoths are among the rarer finds, and the seagrass in the shallows draws dugongs during the year. Entry and exit are easy at any tide.
