Patris Wreck

Also known as: Πατρίς (Greek) · Patris

Patris was a paddle steamer that hit the reef off Koundouros on Kea in 1868 and sank. The wreck is broken into two sections spread from about 26 m to 52 m, and one of the paddle wheels is still in place. Shoals of fish surround it, with groupers, barracuda, goatfish, lionfish and the occasional tuna. Since 2022 the wreck is part of the Kea Underwater Historic Site, where fishing is banned and visits are made with licensed Greek dive centres.
