Barracuda

Also known as: Barracuda Wall · Barracuda Point

The reef is a rocky ledge with a few overhangs where a group can shelter while it waits for everyone. Local guides describe it as one of the island's most vertical walls, with an undercut that can be visited when the current allows. Because the current is fast, photography is hard, but turtles are common and eagle rays, nurse sharks, moray eels and larger game fish pass by. The Reefs of Cozumel guide stresses diving as a tight group with a surface marker, since a diver who drifts away here can be carried far from the island. The port captain monitors and limits tourist diving in this northern area.
