Sutil Island
Sutil Island rises some 300 ft out of the sea and its steep sides are pocked with caves. Most dives are made off the east side, where thick kelp grows over canyons and ledges, and on calm days off the south face, which drops beyond 100 ft and is noted for anemones, nudibranchs and scallops. Calico bass, sheephead, garibaldi, sea lions, bat rays and sometimes giant sea bass are seen. The west side has swift currents and is not dived. Depending on surge and current, it can be a novice or an advanced dive.
