Punta Sant'Angelo

The headland is joined to Ischia by a narrow isthmus, and its outer wall plunges vertically into the deep. Spirographs, Axinella sponges, Astroides and nudibranchs such as the umbrella slug cover the upper wall, giving way to mixed yellow and red gorgonians below about 30 m. Around 35 to 43 m, pinnacles off the south-west side carry dense branches of bright yellow false black coral, and cracks at 45 to 50 m shelter red coral. Frequent current brings big groupers, moray eels, barracuda and anthias.
