Each cavern opens at about 20 m into a narrow corridor that leads to a large chamber, where light from the entrance creates strong backlit views. The walls inside carry starfish, nudibranchs, fan worms and narwal shrimp. Between the two caverns, at about 24 m, lies the wreck of a small metal vessel. Dive Azores describes the site as a steep wall with two volcanic caverns that have access to the surface, and mentions gatherings of eagle rays outside. The second cavern is a little smaller but offers a similar light effect.
