Risco Verde

Risco Verde sits at the northern end of the Arinaga promenade, inside the marine reserve and closer to the town than any other site. Divers get in and out by the steps next to the promenade, one of the simplest entries in the area. The dive starts on a narrow rocky platform covered in green, red and brown algae and then steps down over the reef, where the official tourism page places the change from reef to sand at about 12 m. Local centres call it the aquarium because the shallow start lets plenty of sunlight into the clear water. Scorpionfish, combers, cuttlefish, octopus and large spiny spider crabs are among the reported life.
