Divers walk about 480 metres from the car park to the end of the breakwater and enter either at its foot, which is sheltered, or further out between the oysters. They swim out close to the channel, where diving is not allowed, and then explore the left side of the jetty. The current can be strong compared with nearby sites, and visibility drops at high water, so the site is dived at low water. Besides the sponges there are anemones, sea squirts, eels, pipefish, whelks and flatfish, and cuttlefish visit in spring.
