Southern Face
The Southern Face of Bait Reef starts as a shallow flat almost completely covered in hard coral. From about 5 m it drops quickly to 20 to 30 m, cut by gullies with rubble and sand floors. Angelfish, sweetlips, cod and soldierfish shelter in the gullies, while big turtles, manta rays, mackerel and barracuda often patrol the edge. Southerly winds and current hit the site directly, so slack water is the time to dive it.
