Roncadores del Faro
Also known as: Steps · Roncardores del Faro
The boat anchors in very shallow water, and a few fin strokes bring divers to an edge where basalt formations fall in near-vertical steps that look almost man-made. Around 20 m a school of roncadores, the grunts that give the site its name, hovers in front of the wall. Cooling lava left small caves and a tunnel that divers swim through. Barracuda, salema, bogues and trumpetfish are common, octopus and moray eels hide in the cracks, and tuna sometimes pass.
