Cueva del Palm Mar

Also known as: Cueva de las Morenas · Cueva de Juanito · Cueva de los Camarones · Palm Mar Cave · Palmar Cave · La Cueva de Palm Mar

From a rocky plateau around 16 m the route follows a volcanic wall down to a cave mouth near the sandy bottom. Several species of moray eel live in the cracks around the entrance, while garden eels cover the sand and shrimps and glassfish crowd the cave. A statue of the Virgin Mary and a dolphin figure honouring Jacques Cousteau stand deeper on the route. Bull rays, butterfly rays, amberjack and barracuda patrol the area. The cave itself continues deeper and has never been fully mapped; at least one operator does not enter it because divers have died inside.
