New Drop Off

Also known as: New Drop

Two reef walls meet here to form a corner with a plateau, and the reef then plunges into very deep water. The site gets currents similar to Blue Corner, so reef hooks are used, and the turbulence and down-currents can be among the strongest in Palau. Schools of blue-striped and black snappers, barracuda and jacks gather along the wall, together with reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, eagle rays and turtles. Palau Dive Adventures singles out the coral growth at around 20 m, and Splash ranks the fish numbers here second only to Blue Corner.
