Chuyo Maru

Also known as: Lionfish Wreck

The ship was hit during Operation Desecrate One and sank on 1 April 1944. Lionfish gather in the holds and under the overhangs, and soft corals and sea fans grow on the deck gear. The tall loading tower at the bow, the anchor winch and the remains of the compass and telegraph on the bridge can be seen. The engine room can be entered with preparation but silts up quickly. The wreck has no marker buoy, so the guide locates it and ties off the boat.
