Pinchers
Also known as: Pincher's Reef · Pinchers Lagoon
Two rock islands reach into the sea and enclose a shallow lagoon with a moderate reef slope and a sandy bottom. The calm conditions make it a common training site and a fallback when the weather is poor. At night the reef comes alive with crustaceans, feather stars, flatworms and nudibranchs. During World War II the harbour was a main anchorage of the Japanese fleet.
