Pointe au Sel

Also known as: Grand Tombant de la Pointe au Sel

The great wall of Pointe au Sel is widely considered the signature dive of Réunion. After a descent into the blue, divers reach a cliff that starts around 25 m and plunges far beyond recreational depths. Exposed to the open sea and often to strong current, it draws schools of trevally, dogtooth tuna and bannerfish. Lucky divers have met manta rays, marlin, whale sharks and, between October and November, schools of hammerhead sharks. The dive usually ends on the colourful plateau at the top of the wall.
