Warship Rock
Also known as: Warship · 軍艦岩 (Chinese (Traditional, Taiwan))
Lava formations rise out of the sea at the north-eastern tip of the island, and below the surface they form pinnacles with coral gardens on their tops and clouds of small reef fish. The deeper slopes carry a corridor of large sea fans, which look yellow to the eye but glow orange in a video light. The current is fast and unpredictable, so boats choose the entry point by the current and divers usually drift along the rock face. The traditional fishing ground of the Dongqing village lies here, and many fish gather around the rocks. The depths invite divers to stay too long, so no-decompression time needs watching.
