Dobu Iso
Also known as: ドブ磯 (Japanese)
Two massive rock towers rise from a seabed of about 50 m, and the gap between them forms a narrow crevasse where dogtooth tuna shelter. Schools of yellowback fusiliers gather around the rocks, and in winter greater amberjacks charge into them. Bigeye trevally, giant trevally and whitetip reef sharks are regular, and with luck manta rays, dolphins or even hammerheads appear, sometimes during the safety stop. Because the rock stands alone in open water, it is exposed to current and wind from every direction.
