Otter Cove

Otter Cove stretches along Ocean View Boulevard west of Lovers Point and is reached by several sets of stairs. Close to shore it is shallow and rocky, so sources recommend diving at high tide and swimming out to the kelp before descending. The western part has rocky bottom with large beds of bull and giant kelp, while the east is sandier with smaller kelp stands. Monkeyface eels, anemones and larger fish are reported at the outer kelp, and sea otters and sea lions are often seen. Fishing for finfish is allowed here, so fish are less abundant than in neighbouring Lovers Cove.
