Hopkins Reef

Hopkins Reef lies in front of Stanford's Hopkins Marine Station, part of a complex of reefs together with Aquarium Wall and McAbee Pinnacle. Dense kelp beds grow over granite outcrops, and as a no-take marine reserve the area still holds plenty of fish. Because the station's shoreline is closed to the public, most divers arrive by boat or kayak, while Pacific Scuba Divers also describes swimming out and to the left from McAbee Beach. Conditions are generally calm and protected, which suits newer divers and photographers.
