Hadsel
Also known as: MS Hadsel · M/S Hadsel · MV Hadsel
Wreck of the coastal passenger and cargo ship Hadsel, which ran onto a skerry in strong current off Reine in January 1958 and went down in less than an hour. She now sits on her keel on a sandy bottom and is counted among the most beautiful wrecks on the Norwegian coast.
Hadsel was the first motor ship in regular Hurtigruten service and later carried cargo and passengers. In January 1958 a strong current pushed her onto a skerry near Reine; the 20 passengers and 26 crew left in the lifeboats before she slid off and sank. The roughly 67 m hull stands almost upright on white sand, heeled over to port, and the foremast is still in place. An old radio receiver lies on deck, and the superstructure amidships and aft can be entered. Large numbers of comb jellies often gather around the wreck, and at around 40 m and deeper it is a dive for experienced divers.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
