Le Faon

Also known as: Faon wreck · L'épave du Faon · MV Priamos · Orchard Reefer · Banana Boat

Le Faon, also known as MV Priamos or Orchard Reefer, is one of the best-known dives in Djibouti and lies a few minutes by boat from the Lagon Bleu on Moucha Island. The cargo ship rests on its port side on sand, and a large crack splits the hull so divers can swim through from the deck to the keel and see both sides. Corals, black coral bushes, encrusting sponges and algae now cover the steel, and the masts shelter clouds of fish. Snappers, jacks, batfish, glassfish, Napoleon wrasse and morays are reported, and the wreck turns even more colourful on a night dive. ZuBlu notes that plankton often limits visibility and therefore recommends the wreck to intermediate and advanced divers.
