Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park

Also known as: Underwater Sculpture Park · Moliniere Underwater Sculpture Park

Jason deCaires Taylor installed the first sculptures in 2006, and artists such as Troy Lewis, Lene Kilde and Rene Froehlich have added works since. The best known piece is Vicissitudes, a ring of children holding hands, and Christ of the Deep recalls the help Grenadians gave the passengers and crew of the burning Bianca C. The figures are placed among gullies and sandy patches of the reef. Coral, algae and sponges have grown over the concrete, so the statues act as an artificial reef that eases pressure on the natural reefs nearby. Calm water and the shallow depth make it popular with snorkelers, and Dive Grenada usually dives it alongside sea turtles.
