Big Mushroom
Also known as: 大香菇 (Chinese (Traditional, Taiwan)) · Da Xianggu · Big Mushroom Reef · Giant Mushroom
The coral head rose from 18 m to within about 8 m of the surface and grows only around a centimetre a year, which gives an age of about a millennium. The swells of Typhoon Meranti toppled it in the summer of 2016, and it now leans at about 45 degrees while restoration work continues. Its skeleton hosts soft and hard corals and many nudibranchs, and three nearby tyre reefs hold reticulated damselfish, anemones and palette surgeonfish. The shore approach from the breakwater or the Shilang trail is long and current-affected and is not recommended for beginners; a boat dive is the safer alternative.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
