Water Lily and Emily

Also known as: Water Lily and Emily Wrecks · Emily and Waterlily Wrecks · Waterlily & Emily Wreck · Water Lilly and Emily

Blue Water states that the Water Lily, a former 22 m water barge, was the first wreck Mauritius sank deliberately as an artificial reef, which earned the country a UNESCO award for marine conservation. The light sand bottom keeps the site bright even when the surface is grey. Both hulls are covered in soft and hard corals and attract bluestripe snappers, moorish idols, lionfish, yellowmouth morays and nudibranchs. The shallow depth, mostly calm water and the chance to see both wrecks in one dive make it a common first wreck dive.
