Xlendi Underwater Archaeological Park
Amphorae have been recovered from the inlet below the Xlendi watchtower since the late 1950s, and surveys in 1993 and 2007 mapped a dense scatter over some 67,000 square metres. The finds point to at least one ship of the third century BC besides the far older Phoenician wreck. The area was declared an archaeological zone at sea in 2020 and a deep-water archaeological park in 2022. Dives are limited to a maximum depth of 105 m and are purely technical boat dives.
