Alexander Barge

Islamorada Dive Center describes the Alexander Barge as the first artificial reef of the Florida Keys programme, sunk in 1984. The barge rests at around 100 feet surrounded by bridge rubble that adds structure for fish. Goliath groupers, turtles, sharks and large numbers of reef fish are reported. NOAA notes the Eagle was originally meant to be sunk next to this artificial reef before it drifted to its present position.
