Punta las Cañas

Punta las Cañas begins on a flat shelf that steepens with distance from the coast. Lava dykes running perpendicular to the shore and scattered eroded rocks concentrate most of the fish, including seabream, ornate wrasse, island groupers and dusky groupers, some of them very large. The cracks hold moray eels, and Buceo El Bajón names it one of the best places to see the yellow moray. Divers usually go out along the drop-off watching the open sea for tuna, amberjacks and barracuda and come back over the platform from about 12 m. The slopes continue far below recreational limits, but the dive centres keep to about 30 m where the life is concentrated.
