El Rincón

El Rincón, the corner, lies in the angle between the La Restinga breakwater and the lava tongue of the point. The lava forms a vertical wall reaching about 23 m, bordered by sandy flats and rock blocks. Divers usually head out a little away from the wall over sand where stingrays and, in winter, angel sharks may be seen, then return along the wall. Its cracks and small caves shelter moray eels, lobsters, slipper lobsters and spiny pufferfish. On days with swell the waves can be seen breaking over the top of the wall from below. It is a relaxed site suited to newly certified divers.
