Baja Rosario

Baja Rosario is a flat-topped underwater hill whose summit lies only 6 to 7 m deep, so it is bright and busy with fish. Next to it a volcanic amphitheatre about 12 m deep is a visual highlight, and until 2019 pregnant female sand tiger sharks gathered there. Canyons formed by lava run down the hill's flanks to a sandy bottom beyond 30 m, with a small garden eel colony and black coral on the deeper rock. Amberjacks, dusky groupers, barred hogfish and triggerfish are common, and rays rest on the sand. The site rarely has strong current and is popular with all the La Restinga dive centres.
