Hole in the Wall

The entry is from a rock shelf into a shallow V-shaped channel of about 5 m, from which divers sink through a hole and leave through the cave that gives the site its name at around 14 m. A sandy slope then leads to a large archway full of trumpetfish and bream, with a maximum depth in the low twenties. About a hundred metres further sits the shoal of roughly two thousand bastard grunts, often watched by barracuda. Rays, morays and the occasional angel shark are reported, and experienced divers can visit two caves for rarer species such as forkbeard and the Canarian lobsterette. Because the site is exposed, dive centres only run it on good days and describe it as one of the more challenging dives of the reserve.
