Relitto di Cala Minnola
Also known as: Cala Minnola · Sito Archeologico
The ship sank in the first half of the 1st century BC carrying Dressel 1B wine amphorae, many of which still lie on the bottom as they were found. A lead anchor stock and fragments of black-glazed tableware are also visible, and one amphora bears the stamp PAPIA, probably a Roman wine-producing family from Campania. The wreck was fully uncovered in 2005 and is an underwater cultural itinerary of the Sicilian Soprintendenza del Mare with a remote camera system. A Roman garum factory once stood a few dozen metres away at Punta Altarella. Visits are made with authorised dive centres.
