Las Cuevas
Conosciuto anche come: The Caves
Las Cuevas is Spanish for the caves, and the name describes the dive: a dozen or so caverns are hollowed into the limestone base of the island. Canyons, arches, overhangs and tunnels give divers many routes, and some openings have a triangular shape that Scuba Diving compares to Darth Vader's mask. Each cave tends to hold a different crowd, from glassy sweepers and French angelfish to schools of squirrelfish, under walls covered in orange soft coral. Outside the caves the reef also has jacks, groupers and occasional nurse sharks, and the SSI blog mentions goliath groupers. Operators often use it as the second, shallower dive of a Desecheo trip.
