Mustang P-51

Also known as: Le Mustang · Mustang P51

Which aircraft this is remains uncertain: the park mentions a Mustang lost off Porquerolles on 29 April 1944 and another that ditched near Hyères on 12 August 1944. The wreck is said to have lain deeper until a trawl moved it in 1985. The tail is broken and the bent propeller blades suggest the engine was running when the plane ditched, while the fixed part of the canopy and the full instrument panel remain. The depth and possible currents make it a technical dive for experienced divers.
