Talcott Shoal

Also known as: Talcott Shoals

Talcott Shoal is not one site but miles of shale and rock ridges running roughly parallel to each other and to the shore, separated by sand. The ledges are undercut, with overhangs and small caves that make ideal lobster habitat, and the regular pattern makes navigation easy. Rock scallops, lingcod, sheephead and halibut are also found, and the deeper reefs are colourful with anemones, sponges and nudibranchs. Open to the northwest swell, it is often surgy and can only be dived on calmer days. The wreck of the Aggi lies in the same area.
