Flame Reef
Flame Reef rises from a sand and mud bottom to a series of peaks about 40 ft below the surface. It is small enough to see in one dive, with jumbled boulders, cracks and occasional mini-walls. The 'flames' are its colours: golden and red gorgonians, corynactis anemones, orange cup corals, sea stars and many nudibranchs such as Spanish shawls. Treefish, garibaldi, sheephead and señoritas add more colour. Because it lies away from island run-off, visibility is often better than elsewhere along the island.
