SS Oakburn
Also known as: Oakburn
The 3,865 ton ship was sailing from New York to Sydney with railway equipment, sewing machines, musical instruments, glassware and paper. The wreck has largely fallen apart, but parts of the bow and engine are recognisable and many artefacts lie scattered around. Hundreds of rock lobsters live on the wreckage, along with rocksuckers, nudibranchs, shysharks and octopus. Seals, dolphins and occasionally sunfish or humpback whales may appear. The best visibility comes in summer.
