Secca dei Mamutones
Also known as: Mamutones
Facing the Posillipo cliffs and the island of Nisida, a rock crust ends in a small cliff surrounded by about ten mounds, the eroded remains of the same wall. The drop from 11 to 28 m is most striking along the main face, which is split by a large canyon carpeted with Leptogorgia fans, Parazoanthus and sponges. The dive loops through the mounds and canyons before ending on the top. Squid, amberjack, little tunny, anchovy shoals, lobsters and, at night, Alicia mirabilis anemones are among the encounters.
