Maavaru Kandu

Also known as: Swedish Reef

Divers back-roll in and descend to a reef top at about 8 to 9 m. Along the side of the channel, plateaus and large overhangs are draped with pendulous soft corals in blue, yellow, green and mustard, and divers can fin right inside them. Whip corals, black coral bushes, sponges, sea fans and hard corals add to the scene. Fish life includes snappers, emperors, fusiliers and thousands of basslets in the shallows. Operators nicknamed it the Swedish reef after its dominant blue and yellow.
